| ROBIN'S PERSPECTIVE: The ‘right to blog’ has become an international cause celebre – CNN reports that a British single mom working as a secretary in Paris led a double life as a Bridget-Jones-type diarist. This would have been fine – except she chose to write on-line, via her “La Petite Anglaise” blog, about her bosses and co-workers in the accounting firm where she was (as in past-tense) employed. Probably choosing headings like “Titilation”, and using photos and colorful phrases, didn’t help her defend against the firm’s allegations of gross misconduct. Nor did it help that she allegedly blogged while at work. But this is France, where it’s hard to fire someone. The dooced blogger is taking her case before the French industrial tribunal, where she is seeking two years of severance pay – and trying to establish a recognized private right to blog. Stay tuned – there’s sure to be a book deal…. |
